As the new £10 polymer bank note featuring author Jane Austen went into circulation last week, pubs with machines that take the notes will need to ensure they are updated, says the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA).
The association also advises businesses in the hospitality industry to ensure staff are aware of the new notes.
The old £10 note, featuring Charles Darwin, will be withdrawn from circulation in Spring 2018 and notice will be given at least three months ahead of the withdrawal date.
The Bank of England has confirmed that a new polymer £20 note, featuring the artist J.M.W Turner, will be launched in 2020.
Further information on the new bank note - including details on how to spot a genuine note - is available on the Bank of England website.
