The High Court has dismissed a challenge to the decision of Liverpool City Council to introduce a late night levy.
The fight against the levy was considered in court after calls for a judicial review were submitted in February 2017 by the Pub Invest Group Limited, one of Liverpool’s biggest nightlife companies.
The appeal argued the decision was based on a flawed consultation process and irrational actions of the council, however the Judge thought the consultation adequate and found that the consultation responses had been properly taken into account.
The late night levy was introduced from April 1 in a bid to raise funds to help the authorities oversee the city’s nightlife.
